The Medal Stand: Idaho on national XC map
Idaho high school cross-country is well-represented so far in preseason regional and national rankings.
DyeStat released its preseason Northwest regional team rankings on Monday, and a familiar name was on the boys watch list: defending 4A boys state champion Idaho Falls. The Tigers, who include returning individual medalists Reed Eddington, Mitchell Athay and defending runner-up Zach Erikson, were one of 13 teams on the watch list. Rocky Mountain came in at No. 5 in the Northwest regional rankings and was also ranked No. 37 in the top 50 national team rankings released Wednesday. Three Idaho teams were acknowledged in DyeStat’s Northwest regional girls team rankings: Mountain View (ranked No. 3), Boise (ranked No. 4) and Eagle (on watchlist).
Earlier this month, MileSplit began its countdown of the top 50 individual boys national rankings. Stetson Moss, defending 5A individual state champion who ran for Bonneville the last two seasons and will attend Thunder Ridge this fall, came in at No. 25. Another Idahoan, two-time defending 5A individual state champion Mountain View junior Lexy Halladay, is No. 13 in the girls top 50 individual national rankings. Mountain View came in at No. 23 in MileSplit’s top 50 girls team national rankings.
DyeStat’s complete preseason individual rankings were released by Aug. 28 last year and MileSplit’s individual rankings will be entirely unveiled by Aug. 31.
